My Friend Needed to Proofread an Entire TV Series. That’s Why I Built Proofreader Studio.

A friend of mine is a screenwriter.

After months of writing, he finally finished an entire television series.

Eight episodes.

Hundreds of pages.

He called me with what sounded like a simple problem.

“I need to proofread all of this.”

My first thought was, No problem. There are plenty of AI tools now.

I was wrong.

Every tool we looked at seemed to expect one thing:

A small document.

An email.

A few paragraphs.

Maybe a blog post.

Not an entire television series.

We ended up breaking scripts into smaller and smaller chunks just to get them through different AI tools.

It worked…

Kind of.

But it was frustrating.

More importantly, it wasn’t really proofreading the project anymore.

It was proofreading dozens of disconnected pieces.

That felt wrong.

Then another question came up.

One neither of us had thought much about.

These scripts hadn’t been produced yet.

Nobody had seen them.

They represented years of work.

Were we really comfortable uploading an unpublished television series to just any AI service?

The more I thought about it, the more I realized this wasn’t just a screenwriting problem.

Authors have books.

Researchers have dissertations.

Businesses have employee handbooks.

Engineers have technical documentation.

Everyone working on large documents seemed to have the same problem.

AI was getting really good at helping people write.

But surprisingly few tools were designed to help people proofread the kinds of documents professionals actually create.

That’s when the idea for Proofreader Studio started.

I didn’t want to build another AI writer.

I wanted to build an AI proofreader.

There’s a huge difference.

A writer creates ideas.

A proofreader helps those ideas shine.

If AI starts rewriting your personality, your dialogue, or your research, it has stopped proofreading.

It’s writing.

That wasn’t what my friend needed.

He had already written the hard part.

He just wanted another set of eyes.

One that wouldn’t get tired after page 250.

One that could catch grammar mistakes, awkward wording, repeated phrases, and inconsistencies across an entire project.

Today, that original conversation still shapes every decision behind Proofreader Studio.
